Hydrocodone is a prescription medication used to treat pain. An increasing number of individuals are becoming addicted to it and health professionals are scrambling to curb the rising tide of users. It, along with other prescription medications, has become a huge threat throughout the United States.  Hydrocodone is one of the most abused prescription meds in the United States.  In only the last 10 years, the amount of people reportedly taking this drug has quadrupled.

The Importance of Hydrocodone Rehab

Hydrocodone makes individuals feel calm and euphoric. It also relieves pain and is why it is prescribed. Hydrocodone is an opiate and is both psychologically and physically addicting. If an individual finds themselves with an addiction to Hydrocodone, it may be necessary for them to first go through a detox program followed by drug rehab.  Rapid detox is an available option and seems to work well for some individuals.  Drug rehabilitation will likely be necessary following detox so that persons can develop strategies to avoid relapsing.

There are many rehab programs that treat individuals with prescription drug addictions, even those that particularly treat Hydrocodone. Some rehab centers will offer addicts drugs such as Suboxone or methadone to wean them off of Hydrocodone safely and comfortably.  Others do not.  It will depend on the facility.  Some programs take a holistic approach.  Others attempt to deal solely with the addiction.
