What is A Coffee Addiction: Though most people assume coffee to be perfectly harmless, it can in fact be addicting. This is largely due to the caffeine in the hot brew. Individuals addicted to coffee will often drink it throughout the day and often feel like they are unable to make it through the day or complete their daily tasks without it.
Signs of A Coffee Addiction: Individuals addicted to coffee may be unable to function optimally without coffee. They may experience constant headaches, feel lethargic much of the time, feel dizzy and experience mood swings. These persons will likely drink coffee throughout the day and not only in the morning.
Cause of Coffee Addiction: Coffee can become just as addicting as some illicit drugs. As stated above, this is mostly due to the caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant which helps give people an energy or burst. Subsequently when a person is tired or in need of a jolt, they might reach for coffee. Overtime, this may develop into an addiction. Coffee may also help improve ones mood because of it's affects on dopamine levels (it raises it). This might also contribute to ones coffee addiction because the drink makes them feel good, even if only temporarily. To maintain this feeling, individuals often keep refilling their cups.
Effects of A Coffee Addiction: A coffee addiction can have a negative impact on ones wallet. Purchasing coffee in order to support this addiction can add up quickly. Too much reliance on coffee will also make it difficult for individuals complete their daily task without it.
Complications of A Coffee Addiction: Drinking too much coffee and thus ingesting high levels of caffeine can lead to heart disease, cardiovascular inflammation, headaches and the inability to sleep.
